Student Blogfolios

Hello Grade 2 Parents,

The day has come….we are ready for a soft launch into student blogfolios! In your child’s note tote, there should be a letter explaining student blogfolios and all the different options of privacy. In case it gets lost on the way home, here is a digital version. The student blogfolio will follow your child through their years at OJCS. Their blogfolios will develop into so much more than just a digital portfolio. The students will be learning to communicate online, reflect on their work, and develop their digital citizenship skills (including online safety).

If you are curious about the various privacy options, here are some live examples:

Public Blogfolio  – This student has been blogging since Kindergarten. It’s wonderful to see how her learning has grown and developed over time.

Public Avatar Blogfolio – This student has just begun her blogging journey and has chosen to keep her name and identity private. We are still able to see her growth and interact with her on her journey. Notice how students have learned to respect her privacy by using the alias in the comments as well.

Password Protected Blogfolio – This student has shared her name and is open to leaving some posts public, however when she shares pictures or videos, she has password protected the post. Only those who have been approved by her or her parents are allowed to know the password.

Private Blogfolio – This blog is completely private. Unless you have an Edublogs account and have been granted access to this blog, you will not be able to see the content.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out so we can discuss. Please remember to fill out and sign the blogfolio permission form and return it to school by Friday, March 6.

Shabbat Shalom!

  1. We are looking forward to welcoming Grade 2 (along with Grades 3 & 4) to join Grades 5 & 6 in the student blogosphere! It will take time for everyone to feel both comfortable and capable, but we know how valuable a tool this will be for teachers, students and parents. Your students and parents are in great hands with this teaching team, and the administration is here to support in any way we can. Can’t wait to see your students’ voices come to life!
